WÜRSTBAR (Sausages n’ Cider)

WÜRSTBAR is a cute little sausage place located in the heart of Jersey City right off of the Grove St station stop. Some of the best sausages are made here.  The restaurant has a nice, chill vibe, wooden floors with wide wooden, picnic-like tables offering plenty of room to host a small party. At the bar you can sit and enjoy a refreshing Cider made right here in Jersey or take advantage of the outdoor seating when the sun is out and weather is great.

I’ve been to WÜRSTBAR twice. The first time I tried their “Ducktails” sausage, duck sausage topped with fig mustard, arugula, goat cheese, and drizzled honey. It was a nice bite, but even better than that was the “Rancho Grande” I had the second time. The great thing about this place is that it offers a veggie sausage option in place of the regular sausages. So, for the “Rancho Grande” I decided to try the veggie sausage instead of the Chorizo, topped with avocado, queso fresco, pickled onions, and green chili mayo. I promise it tastes even better than how it reads on the menu. Yummy! Even if you aren’t vegetarian. There are so many other tantalizing options to choose from. I would recommend just trying whatever you’re in the mood for and you won’t be disappointed.

As far as drinks, the “Iron-Bound Hard Cider” is great if you are looking for something light, crisp and refreshing. It has a nice balance between sweetness and tartness and pairs well with whatever sausage you choose. I would also try the “Eden Ice Cider Imperial Rose”. It is a Rose Cider with exceptional flavors and the perfect sip after a long day of work. Of course, there are many other options to choose from like wine and beer if you decide you want to steer away from the cider.

I would highly recommend this spot if you want to do a casual lunch with friends, go for a couple of drinks or just suddenly have a taste for sausage, like I did. For me it’s worth the twenty-five minute commute, when after a nice lunch date, I can just walk around the corner to a festival or to the waterfront near Exchange Place. Trust me, you do not want to miss out on this WÜRSTBAR deliciousness!
